Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Advanced Computing for Chemistry & Materials team within the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS). This position is focused on performing cutting-edge computational chemistry research and development, particularly in the areas of molecular electronic structure and its applications in catalysis and 3D metal chemistry. The successful candidate will leverage the high-performance computing (HPC) resources available at the Oak Ridge Leadership Facility to conduct large-scale simulations. The role requires proficiency in coding with common HPC programming languages and GPU programming, as the candidate will be expected to apply and enhance advanced computational methodologies to calculate and optimize molecular properties. Collaboration is a key aspect of this position, as the associate will work closely with researchers across ORNL who specialize in chemical separations, materials science, and spectroscopy. The candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with leading computer and computational scientists at ORNL and external partners to develop and apply new computational techniques that align with the key missions of the DOE Office of Science. In addition to research responsibilities, the associate will be expected to report findings through journal publications, conference presentations, and technical manuals.
