About The Position

The University of Arizona's Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research on the water-energy nexus for solar-enabled inland desalination. The role involves experimental approaches, modeling, optimization, and life-cycle assessment of advanced water treatment systems, contributing to the Water Resiliency Program in collaboration with various institutions.

Requirements

• PhD in Environmental Engineering (must have PhD conferred upon hire).
• Strong analysis skills, research, and technical writing skills.
• Knowledge of laboratory management.
• Ability to communicate professionally in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
• Exceptional organizational and teamwork skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience using Python.
• Previous history of published research in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

• Perform modeling work on solar enabled desalination.
• Integrate established databases into the model using Python.
• Participate in Water Reuse Consortium meetings.
• Oversee components of management of the laboratory.
• Foster collaborations within the Department, with other units across the University, and with team members at other institutes.
• Present research at national and international conferences.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Participate in grant writing, including generating preliminary data, submitting grant applications, and preparing progress reports.
• Additional duties as assigned.
