The postdoctoral fellow will conduct research and participate in the training of CCME-II graduate and undergraduate scholars in the CCME-II thematic areas aligned with NOAA priorities and NOAA Science and Technology Areas of Focus; NOAA-CCME-II's primary mission is to educate a new generation of scientists in NOAA-aligned disciplines, particularly from communities traditionally underrepresented in these fields; integral to this mission is collaborative research addressing NOAA priorities, particularly those of the NOAA National Ocean Service and the Oceanic and Atmospheric Research line offices; The NOAA EPP/MSI CSC postdoctoral fellowship is intended to enhance the research training of promising postdoctoral candidates who have the potential to become productive, independent investigators in the scientific research fields relevant to the NOAA mission, particularly coastal and marine ecosystems. This fellowship is initially a 12-month appointment with the potential for extension up to 24 months. The successful candidate will be based at the UTRGV CCME-II partner institution and will also spend a 6-12-months period conducting research in person at a NOAA facility in collaboration with a NOAA mentor.
