About The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee. The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral fellow position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in low-carbon infrastructure materials and structures, particularly deep decarbonization of cementitious materials through material recycling and CO2 mineralization. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon funding.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment.
  • Experience with cement and concrete chemistry, reinforced concrete structures, computational and solid mechanics.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong analytical skills are beneficial, including but not limited to SEM, TEM, XRD, TGA, FITR, NMR, and ICP-OES, and multiscale characterization of concrete.
