Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research. A Postdoctoral Fellow role is available in the lab of Dr. Annabel Wang. The research in her laboratory focuses on the metabolic and cellular plasticity of adipose tissue in response to physiological, pathophysiological, and aging-related challenges. The lab’s long-term goals are to provide fundamental insights into 1) the metabolic significance of adipocyte and adipocyte progenitor cell plasticity and heterogeneity; 2) mechanisms by which adipocytes communicate with other cell types in response to metabolic cues; and 3) adipose tissue remodeling during aging and age-associated metabolic disorders. Ultimately, the lab’s aim is to mitigate pathogenesis and develop effective treatments for chronic metabolic diseases. The lab has developed unique and comprehensive mouse models enabling real-time labeling, lineage tracing, inducible knockout, and inducible overexpression. Her lab integrates molecular biology, biochemistry, and histological approaches with state-of-the-art technologies, including comprehensive mouse phenotyping, tissue clearing and 3D imaging, in vivo transplantation combined with 3D imaging of grafts, and single-cell and spatial multi-omics analyses.
