The Department of River-Coastal Science and Engineering at Tulane University, New Orleans, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in Ecohydrological Modeling of Saline Environments. The anticipated start date for the position is between May 1 and September 30, 2022. Appointments are for one year, with the possibility of renewal depending upon satisfactory performance and funding availability. The position will be centered on modeling climate-plant-water interactions in salt-affected ecosystems, with a specific focus on coastal wetlands and their vulnerability to sea-level rise and salinization. The work will require developing simplified models of the plant hydraulics under osmotic stress and designing their upscaling to larger (plot up to ecosystem) scales for hydrologic and climate modeling applications. Prior experience with the parametrization of plant hydraulic traits and stochastic modeling, and familiarity with eddy covariance methods and data are strongly preferred.
