About The Position

The Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin is hiring a Postdoctoral Fellow. We are seeking a junior scholar whose research and teaching interests focus on political behavior and/or democratic representation in any of the traditional subfields. The position is one year, beginning on August 16, 2026 and subject to renewal pending funding.

Requirements

  • PhD in political science or adjacent field
  • Degree not received more than 3 years prior to start date

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong logistical coordination skills
  • Training in advanced statistical techniques and computational methods
  • Experience managing and analyzing large, administrative datasets
  • The ability to balance several projects

Responsibilities

  • Work on your own research
  • Teach one course
  • Participate in department events

Benefits

  • The selected fellow will have access to additional funds for research support, visiting speakers, and/or conference travel.
  • The department will also assign fellows (1) research assistants through the Departments’ Undergraduate Research Internship Program; (2 ) a teaching assistant for the one semester they are teaching (teaching load is 1-0); and (3) a faculty mentor in the substantive subfield.
