About The Position

Noblis is seeking a postdoctoral candidate with a strong background in life science bioinformatics and synthetic biology to work with Noblis subject matter experts and scientists. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for multiomics integration (genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics) while leveraging AI to drive hypothesis generation, biomarker discovery, and de novo protein design. This is a full-time, one-year fellowship position with the option for a second year, with potential opportunity to join Noblis as a full-time employee.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Biology or a related field granted soon or within the last 5 years
  • The candidate must be a U.S. citizen with a government clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with next-generation sequencing platforms (e.g., Illumina, Pacific Biosciences, Oxford Nanopore Technologies) and associated data types
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in applying and/or developing methods for analyzing various types of –omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, or metabolomics)
  • Fluency in multiple programming languages, including UNIX/Linux, Python and R, for small- and large-scale tool development.
  • Experience deploying externally facing, reproducible code and deliverables including use of Git/GitHub/Atlassian systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to efficiently manage time, including skillfully prioritizing both long-term projects and day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to explain highly technical concepts to non-experts.
  • A desire for publishing in relevant scientific journals.
  • High degree of ethical and scientific standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) for biological data analysis
  • Knowledge of protein structure prediction tools and protein design algorithms

  • Database management skills (SQL, NoSQL)
  • Experience with high-performance computing environments
  • Knowledge of statistical methods for experimental design and data analysis
  • Background in structural bioinformatics and molecular modeling
  • Experience developing workflows using a workflow language (e.g., Snakemake, Nextflow, CWL)
  • Experience with de novo protein design principles and enzyme kinetics
  • Experience with molecular dynamics simulations

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain AI-driven bioinformatics platforms (integration pipelines, visualization tools, foundation models, and LLMs)
  • Design and implement workflows for DNA/RNA extraction, next generation sequencing (NGS), and bioinformatic analytics including engineered detection systems
  • Participate in the innovation, design, and development of statistical and analytical solutions that are reproducible.
