About The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct experimental research in advanced manufacturing, surface engineering, and tribological performance of engineered surfaces within the Nano Mechanics and Tribology Laboratory. Research areas include two-photon lithography (TPL) 3D printing, coatings and thin films, adhesion science, and nanomechanical/tribological characterization. The Fellow will execute research projects aligned with the group’s ongoing programs, publish peer-reviewed journal articles, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. The position emphasizes strong experimental skills, productivity, and collaboration in a team-based research environment. The position provides opportunities for technical leadership, publication, and contribution to proposal development. Regular, reliable attendance and the ability to maintain a collegial, harmonious working environment are essential requirements.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment
  • Demonstrated experience in experimental research
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of general office or research software

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with one or more of the following: Two-photon lithography (TPL) or micro/nanofabrication
  • Advanced manufacturing or 3D printing of micro/nanostructures
  • Surface engineering, adhesion, or interfacial mechanics
  • Coatings or thin films
  • AFM, nanoindentation, or tribology testing
  • Mentoring or supervising students
  • Scientific writing and proposal support
