About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our multidisciplinary research group focused on caner epidemiology, survivorship, and outcomes research. The fellow will contribute to cutting- edge projects aimed at understanding cancer etiology, early detection, risk prediction, prevention, and control. This position provides opportunities to design and analyze large epidemiologic studies, work with high dimensional data, and collaborate with leading experts across oncology, genetics, data science and public health.

Requirements

  • PhD, DrPH, ScD, or MD with strong quantitative training in epidemiology, biostatistics, cancer biology, population health, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical software (R, SAS, Stata)
  • Strong publication record or evidence of ability to publish peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Analysis of omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) or large linked health datasets.
  • Familiarity with survival analysis, causal inference, risk modeling, and machine learning.
  • Background in health disparities or social determinants of health in cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research on cancer risk, prevention, survivorship and outcomes.
  • Design and perform epidemiologic and biostatistical analyses of large population-based datasets (e.g. SEER, NHANES, Multi-Institutional Cohorts, Electronic Health Records).
  • Contribute to study design, grant writing, IRB protocols, and data collection instruments.
  • Develop and validate risk prediction models integrating demographic, behavioral, molecular, and genetic data.
  • Lead and co-author scientific manuscripts and conference presentations.
  • Mentor graduate students and laboratory staff as appropriate.
  • Engage in professional development, career planning, training workshops, and conference presentations provided by the institution
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.
  • Assists the physician in maintaining the functionality and operations of the Principal Investigator's (PI) laboratory.
  • Promotes a positive work environment and leads the team to be dynamic and a focused work unit that actively helps one other to achieve optimal department results.
  • Collaborates with all members of the department by actively communicating and reporting data in a comprehensive manner.
  • Role models to team members effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication, which includes active listening and teaching, assisting in development of such skills.
  • Provides contributions towards improvement of department scores for employee engagement, i.e. peer-to-peer accountability.
  • Develops research methods and performs research activities.
  • Documents research results and writes reports of results for presentation and/or publication in professional journals and other publications.
  • Follows all safety rules while on the job.
  • Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
  • Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
  • Assists with implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives, standards of practice and protocols.

  • Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations and contributes to meeting department and laboratory targets for quality and safety.
