Postdoctoral Fellow Cancer Biology, Discovery Oncology, Dey Lab

GenentechSouth San Francisco, CA
114d$98,000 - $104,500

About The Position

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate to join the laboratory of Dr. Anwesha Dey in the Department of Discovery Oncology at Genentech. The group investigates fundamental mechanisms of tumor biology, with a focus on cancer signaling pathways, tumor suppressor networks, and how these can be exploited for therapeutic intervention. We employ state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo models to dissect cancer biology and develop new strategies to target key vulnerabilities. The Genentech scientific community provides access to generous state-of-the-art resources, cutting-edge technologies, and a collaborative network of leading cancer biologists, immunologists, and computational scientists.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related field, with a strong track record of research accomplishments.
  • Must have advanced at least one key research project, as evidenced by a first-author publication (published or accepted) in a leading peer-reviewed journal.
  • Independent scientist with excellent communication skills, strong passion for discovery, and ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Enthusiastic about leveraging innovative approaches to address big questions in tumor biology/ cancer signaling.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with in vivo cancer models (e.g., xenograft, syngeneic, GEMMs) and/or advanced in vitro systems (e.g., 3D culture, organoids).
  • Familiarity with cancer signaling pathways and tumor suppressor biology.
  • Experience with modern technologies such as CRISPR/Cas9-based genome engineering, single-cell or spatial transcriptomics, or high-content imaging.
  • Working knowledge of bioinformatics and computational analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply advanced in vitro and in vivo models to investigate tumor suppressor function and cancer signaling pathways.
  • Leverage cutting-edge technologies—including next-generation sequencing, single-cell approaches, genome engineering, and spatial biology—to study mechanisms of tumor initiation and progression.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to translate basic biological insights into therapeutic opportunities.
  • Take advantage of Genentech's rich environment of core facilities, including animal modeling, high-throughput screening, proteomics, and computational biology.

Benefits

  • Relocation benefits are available for this job posting.
  • Access to world-class seminars, professional development workshops, and networking opportunities.
  • Competitive salaries and fully funded research expenses.
