A Postdoctoral Associate Position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Francisco Schopfer at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology, to study lipid nitration reactions signaling. The candidate will perform research, continuing several ongoing lines of investigation. The Schopfer Laboratory seeks competitive candidates who have recently earned a PhD and possess excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work in a team. Experience in GC-MSMS, LC-MSMS, and LC-CAD-MSMS, and a strong background in analytical chemistry are required. The lab focuses on the chemical reaction forming nitrated fatty acids, their in vivo characterization, and biological activities. This role involves extensive LC-MSMS and GC-MSMSM characterization and quantification of nitrated lipids using in-house mass spectrometers, as well as performing cellular and animal models of inflammation. The position also includes training and assisting Graduate Students, Research Technicians, and Pitt Student Workers with their research projects related to signaling and analysis of nitrated fatty acids. Candidates will work directly with the PI, Dr. Francisco Schopfer, and develop career-related skills such as manuscript preparation, oral presentations, and grant writing.
