About The Position

The Gupta Lab at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) is seeking a motivated and creative Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team. The successful candidate will lead a collaborative effort on the genetics of steatohepatitis (MASH). Our lab focuses on decoding the genetic drivers of lipid metabolism and liver disease. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of basic biology and therapeutic discovery. We aim to translate genetic insights into actionable strategies for disease prevention and treatment. Research Areas & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will apply their expertise to lead projects in one or more of our key research areas, depending on interest: In Vivo Validation & Therapeutics: We are focused on the translation of genetic findings into therapies. This involves the in vivo validation of genes that reduce Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) risk, as well as the design and testing of siRNA therapeutics to modulate these targets. Lipid Metabolism & Hepatocyte Biology: We are passionate about understanding the fundamental biology of the liver. This research area focuses on deep mechanistic interrogation of genetic variants in lipid droplet proteins to understand how genetic variation influences chronic liver disease progression. Genome-wide CRISPR Screens: We are working to leverage high-throughput functional genomics to discover novel biology. The fellow will utilize genome-wide CRISPR screens, including in combination with single cell RNA sequencing, to identify novel genetic mediators of disease-relevant cellular phenotypes for chronic liver disease. What We Offer: Committed Career & Research Development: We are dedicated to advancing your career. You'll receive active support to build your publication record. For postdocs aiming at academia, we provide support for grant applications (e.g., K99/R00) to ensure you become a highly competitive candidate. Collaborative Co-Mentorship: To broaden your expertise and support network, you will be co-advised by Dr. Aaron Hakim, a physician scientist, transplant hepatologist and Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, offering a dynamic environment that bridges distinct scientific perspectives. Access to World-Class Resources: You will work within the rich scientific ecosystem of Boston, utilizing the cutting-edge facilities and platforms available at both BWH and the Broad Institute. Develop Your Mentorship & Leadership Skills: You will have the opportunity to mentor talented and motivated junior students, which provides leadership experience and also leads to co-authorship.
