POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE , Varon Lab, will conduct research in satellite remote sensing of atmospheric and ocean composition. The position focuses on developing and evaluating novel remote sensing approaches using ocean-color and thermal-infrared satellite observations to study marine organosulfur compounds and ocean–atmosphere interactions. Key research activities include algorithm development, radiative transfer modeling, and satellite data analysis. While associated with a sponsored project, the postdoctoral associate will also have opportunities to contribute to broader group research on greenhouse gases, air quality, and emerging satellite missions. Key responsibilities include developing and evaluating remote sensing methodologies, including designing algorithms to detect and quantify marine organosulfur compounds using infrared and/or ocean color observations. Processing and analyzing satellite imaging spectroscopy data and integrating these with in situ and geophysical datasets. Lead dissemination efforts, including preparing peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and technical reports, and contributing to sponsor reporting and future research planning. Collaborating with students and research staff and contribute to new research initiatives within the group. This position requires substantial independence in research design, implementation, and interpretation, along with other duties as needed.
