The Postdoctoral Associate will dedicate their effort to the study of sensory neurobiology of the gastrointestinal tract. Specifically, this position will study the receptors that recognize bitter compounds in the gastrointestinal tract and correlated behaviors.

Requirements

  • Work requires a minimum of 4 years training as a PhD graduate student in biology, nutrition, animal or biomedical related field.
  • Work requires skills in food technologies, nutrition, with expertise in food processing, engineering, and consumer behavior acquired through completion of a PhD degree in Food Processing and Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory bench research.
  • Conduct mouse inventory, breeding, genotyping, weaning, and general care, cell dissociations, cell culture, mouse surgery, mouse behavior, chemical and molecular assays, PCR, and RNA-sequencing.
  • Contribute to data analysis and communication of findings through oral and written presentations, including but not limited to assisting with grant applications and publications.
  • purchasing, maintaining the labs chemical inventory, and helping with communication with oversight bodies, weekly meeting on Monday mornings and Journal Club on Friday afternoons, and providing regular updates of activities and progress.
