This is a 2 year post-doctoral position within the Rehabilitation Psychology department at University Hospital that will follow a structured program of clinical and didactic experiences. Program structure generally conforms with APPIC guidelines although is not eligible for accreditation due to being a new program, including provision of a minimum of 2 hours of supervision and 2 hours of didactics weekly. In the first year, the post-doctoral fellow will provide direct clinical psychological services to patients and family members admitted to the acute inpatient rehabilitation unit for at least 20 hours per week. Common diagnoses of patients include stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple trauma, and other medical issues requiring inpatient rehabilitation services. The fellow will be expected to prepare and take the EPPP examination and actively seek NYS licensure during this year. In year 2, the fellow will provide outpatient psychological services within 2 of the hospital-based clinics that are within Rehabilitation Psychology for at least 20 hours per week, such as Concussion Management Program, Psychosocial Oncology, or others within the department or hospital that are planned for development. Outside of direct clinical services, the fellow will be involved in a combination of supervision, didactics, teaching, research, administrative, and leadership activities that fit their professional development and departmental needs.
