The Postdoctoral Associate position in the Zhu Lab at Rice University's George R. Brown School of Engineering and Computing focuses on advanced terahertz spectroscopy and microscopy techniques to explore new properties in quantum materials. The role involves conducting interdisciplinary research, mentoring graduate students, and contributing to the development of research plans, all within a supportive and inclusive environment.

  • Utilize new terahertz spectroscopy and microscopy methods to discover novel properties arising from the coupling of various excitations in quantum materials.
  • Investigate the dynamics and functionalities of chiral phonons.
  • Mentor graduate students and develop research plans.
  • Present research results at high-level conferences.
  • Collaborate with other research groups to conduct interdisciplinary research.
  • Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Ability to present research results to high-level conferences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Prior experience in ultrafast optical spectroscopy, especially time-domain terahertz spectroscopy and nonlinear spectroscopy.
