The Postdoctoral Appointee in Distributed Systems Integration at Sandia National Laboratories will conduct research on renewable and distributed energy systems, focusing on their integration with electrical power systems. This role involves developing electrical models, performing simulations, and analyzing the resilience of electrical systems to support critical infrastructure.   • Conduct research on renewable and distributed energy systems and their integration with electrical power systems.
  • Develop electrical models and perform simulations to investigate the impact of distributed generation hardware and controls on electrical distribution system performance.
  • Analyze the resilience of electrical systems and their support for critical infrastructure, such as water distribution and emergency services.
  • Collaborate with partners and generate publications, including technical reports and journal articles.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C, C++, or Java.
  • Experience in distribution modeling and simulation using software like OpenDSS, GridLAB-D, SynerGEE, CYME, or Opal-RT.
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • PhD research emphasis in Power Systems.
  • Laboratory experience in power engineering.
  • Experience using geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Modeling and simulation experience in power systems.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Understanding of Machine Learning theory and applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
