Postdoc Research Associate

University of Southern CaliforniaLos Angeles, CA

About The Position

The Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking a Research Scientist to lead research into ALS and related neurological diseases. The approach will be to generate in vitro models of human neurodegenerative diseases by converting patients’ skin fibroblasts into disease-affected neural cells. This enables the screening of thousands of drug-like compounds in search of potential therapeutics that slow or stop the degeneration of these cells in petri dishes — and eventually in patients. The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret data, contribute to manuscript preparation, and actively participate in lab meetings and collaborative research activities. This position is a one-year fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon performance and availability of funding. The annual base salary range for this position is $70,304.00 - $80,000.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
