As a Postal Worker II at West Virginia University, you will play a vital role in the Department of Mail Services within Procurement, Contracting and Payment Services. This position requires you to work collaboratively in a team environment to deliver essential mail and postal services across the university. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all customer needs are met while performing various tasks associated with the University Postal Service operation. This includes maintaining the flow of mail for the entire institution, which encompasses a wide range of mail types such as campus mail, U.S. mail, registered mail, priority mail, bulk mail, certified mail, insured mail, international mail, express mail, and third-party express mail services like UPS and FedEx. You will utilize automated tracking systems to manage these processes effectively, ensuring compliance with established procedures and federal, state, and local regulations. In addition to managing mail flow, you will provide on-demand customer service to all WVU departments by processing outgoing metered mail, verifying postage account numbers, affixing proper postage, and accurately recording postage transactions. You will also assist students, faculty, and staff by receiving, weighing, metering, sorting, and distributing all classes of mail to the appropriate campus locations and individual mailboxes. Continuous cross-training on all Postal Service workstations is expected, and you will actively participate in training new hires and temporary workers. Maintaining quality customer service is paramount, and you will be responsible for following procedures, documenting events, and communicating with coworkers to ensure a smooth operation. Your role will also involve maintaining office communications, answering department telephones, greeting visitors, and providing information to unit customers. You will be responsible for arranging vehicle maintenance for post office vehicles and maintaining a clean and organized work area. This position may require limited evening and weekend hours as needed to support institutional processes. The work hours are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM, and the assignment length is for 9 months. The pay grade for this position is 9, and competitive wages will be offered based on experience and related education.
