About The Position

Mass FX Media is a Denver-based, design-forward post-production studio specializing in post-production, motion design, and visual effects for brands, documentary tv shows and films. They are a collaborative team that values craftsmanship, direct communication, and creative problem-solving, promoting a culture of creative collisions and doing life together. The company is looking for a Post Producer to be one step ahead of their fast pace and manage their team, coordinating post-production, motion graphics and visual effects projects through the post-production workflow. The right person would have post-production experience specifically managing edits and tracking graphics or VFX shots using a shot tracking system equivalent to ftrack or ShotGrid. This client-facing role must keep control of client expectations and project scope diplomatically and confidently. Project types include live action edits, explainer videos, infographics, title design, data visualizations, graphics packages and typography. Clients include documentary and narrative filmmakers, showrunners, and large brands. This role is strategic and hands-on, requiring someone that can think ahead, stay organized under pressure, and guide projects with clarity and precision. The firm is small, but mighty, and needs to run as efficiently as possible without sacrificing an ounce of quality. This role will also act as QC for rounds going to the client.

Requirements

  • Post-production experience specifically managing edits and tracking graphics or VFX shots using a shot tracking system equivalent to ftrack or ShotGrid
  • OS X proficient
  • Standard word processing and spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets experience required)
  • Project management software or spreadsheet management for the post-production workflow of an animation or VFX studio
  • Ftrack for Project Management
  • Slack for Communication
  • Strong communication skills across clients, creatives and leadership
  • Possess a self-starter attitude and be able to begin work without needing to be consistently guided in their tasks
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive problem-solving and decision making
  • Comfortable reaching out for details and clarification when a process is not clear
  • Excellent video call, phone, and written customer communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the animation or visual effects process with Nuke, After Effects and/or Cinema4D or equivalent
  • Proficient in word processing software and spreadsheets, using formulas and linking
  • Experience with scheduling people with project management tools like ftrack, gantt schedulers, calendar apps or spreadsheets
  • Experience tracking and actualizing budgets for film or video projects
  • Solid time management for self and the team
  • Flexible, positive attitude in the face of high pressure and stressful situations
  • A sense of humor is required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • 5+ years of experience producing or coordinating for post-production projects that include specifically animation, motion design or visual effects
  • Shot tracking and progress tracking for multiple deliverables in a single project either with spreadsheets, Shotgrid, or ftrack
  • High school diploma/GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience post-producing finishing work is a bonus
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing both the client and artist sides of the project pipeline
  • Manage the full life-cycle of the project including managing the budget throughout the creative process
  • Manage artist schedules and deadlines
  • Creatively manage scripting, overseeing edits and editors, plus delivering the projects for review online and in-person, and receive and communicate feedback between the client and our creative directors
  • Act as QC for rounds going to the client
  • Perform other duties as assigned
