About The Position

This incumbent has completed medical school and an internship and is in the process of receiving specialized training. Most of the incumbent's time is spent in a hospital or clinic setting, mostly with the direct supervision by more senior physicians. This position includes in-depth training within a specific branch of medicine.

Requirements

• Doctorate Degree or Medical Degree
• Current temporary State Medical License
• 1-2 years experience residency program

Responsibilities

• Maintains the safety and cleanliness of the treatment rooms.
• Restocks treatment rooms daily.
• Demonstrates knowledge of principles of clean and sterile procedures in the use of medical equipment.
• Follows appropriate safety standards, including: OSHA/CLIA and/or JCAHO.
• May skillfully and accurately administer child and/or adult medications/immunizations.
• Demonstrates proficiency in office procedures including answering phone prior to voice mail pickup, triage of message taking, scheduling of patients, confirming of next day patients, and following individual physicians daily protocols.
• Files information on the appropriate charts and presents information and correspondence to MD if needed.
• Processes physicians mail according to protocol.
• Demonstrates proficiency in assisting with medical procedures and maintains competencies in the assisting of the patients, handling of physician instructions, medication call ins, and completed chart documentation. This includes assuring that the patient's right to privacy, dignity and respect is maintained in both the performance of medical procedures and in the appropriate use of the medical record.
• Appropriately triages patient calls and assures the proper disposition of calls to meet patient needs.
• Notifies physician with emergency complaints and demonstrates competency in clinical care protocols including 911 and HIPAA.
• Access to patient information will be limited to what is necessary to perform the job.
• Accurately documents all care rendered to a patient and all actions taken on behalf of a patient in the patient's medical record.
• Accurately documents medication orders, lab work results, and instructions, including triage.
