About The Position

To pursue continued education and experience in research under the general supervision of a senior mentor. The focus of the work will include research characterizing water quality and management relevant for conservation best management practice assessments, as well as other topics by mutual agreement with the postdoctoral mentor. This position will be based on the OSU Wooster campus and will report to Dr. Steve W. Lyon (mentor) and Dr. Manbir Rakkar (co-mentor).

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in biological/environmental science or water resource engineering is required.
  • Experience with monitoring water quality and wetland systems is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor water quantity and quality across cascading waterways capturing the impact of storm events and seasonal variations.
  • Field work to collect information on soil properties, sedimentation rates, and vegetation densities for selected cascading waterways.
  • Establish the life expectancy and maintenance expectations of cascading waterways as an agricultural best management practice targeted at the reduction of nutrients and sediments leaving farms.
  • Engage statewide stakeholders to collect information around cascading waterway design and maintenance.
  • Preparation of scientific publications and project reports for communication.
  • Preparation of presentations and attending, participating, or presenting at meetings, seminars, and conferences as needed.
