About The Position

A funded postdoctoral position is available to study atomic-scale structure and defects in materials and interfaces relevant to superconducting and semiconducting qubits using advanced electron microscopy techniques at the Center for Electron Microscopy and Analysis (CEMAS).

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Applied Physics or equivalent
  • Strong background in TEM/STEM characterization.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics or Applied Physics
  • Experience with EELS, diffraction contrast, 4D-STEM/ptychography.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and strong collaborative communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct TEM, 4D-STEM, electron ptychography, EELS, and SEM/EBSD to analyze structure, strain, and chemistry in superconducting and semiconducting thin films and heterostructures.
  • Correlate structural and chemical features with superconducting and electronic properties.
  • Develop and apply advanced data analysis workflows for large microscopy datasets.
