About The Position

Provides expertise in support of research projects in engineering, biology, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, etc. Prepares and edits research papers, proposal, and reports. Performs advanced testing procedures and analyses of data. May prepare samples for testing. Performs advanced testing procedure and performs analyses of data. Makes uses of a variety of specialized equipment typical within area of specialization. May contribute to grant proposal development. Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Fluid Dynamics in the Applied Turbulence and Land-Atmosphere Systems (ATLAS) group in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Houston. We work in the following general areas (and at their intersections): Development of high-resolution, low-cost, and compact nanoscale sensing platforms that quantify velocity, temperature, humidity, and their turbulent fluxes at unprecedented scales Near-surface turbulent measurements over various landforms, sites, and thermal stabilities to validate and improve model parametrizations Design and characterization of a new environmental flow facility that uses an active grid with individually controlled paddles to impart coherent structures in time and space that echo relevant field observations We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated early-career researcher with strong communication and collaboration skills to join our group. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in experimental fluid mechanics. This is a full-time position with a one-year appointment. The start date is 01/16/2026. Experience will be considered in lieu of education. Education will be considered in lieu of experience. MQ: Bachelor's Degree with 3 years experience. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check. Requirements
