Development of facilities is motivated by present Brookhaven research programs and anticipated future directions of research. Our work has a significant impact on programs throughout the world that rely on state-of-the-art radiation detectors and readout electronics.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field of study with a focus on RF circuits and systems, ASIC design, or FPGA-based digital signal processing.
  • Experience of developing test platforms that combine analog/RF circuits with FPGA-based digital control and signal processing.
  • Experience with using electromagnetic simulation software and common RF and microwave test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of printed circuit board (PCB) design, including schematic entry and layout.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of both the theoretical fundamentals and applications of quantum computing.
  • Experience working with cryogenic test setups.
  • Ability to program and use modern field-programmable gate array (FPGA) development boards, such as the Xilinx RFSoC series.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary collaborations.
  • Strong research experience (e.g. as evidenced by publication record).
  • Excellent programming skills.
  • Ability to perform experiments using low voltage (<50 V) electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on radio-frequency (RF) hardware for controlling superconducting qubits.
  • Participate in the deployment and testing of qubit control algorithms to FPGAs.
  • Participate in the development of test setups for superconducting qubits.
