Position Summary The Post Doctoral Research Fellow supports disease‑specific clinical research programs within the Orlando Health Clinical Trials Office by conducting patient screening, trial‑matching activities, data abstraction, and foundational scientific writing. This is a non clinical position ideal for physician graduates seeking immersive research experience, academic productivity, and mentorship in preparation for residency or future academic careers. The role works closely with clinical investigators, research coordinators, and disease‑site leadership to facilitate identification of eligible clinical trial participants, contribute to investigator‑initiated trial development, literature review, and support scholarly outputs including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts. This position is structured as a two-year appointment, with the potential for extension based on mutual interest. The role is eligible for candidates requiring J1 visa sponsorship and provides valuable opportunities to build a strong academic portfolio and develop skills relevant to future residency or fellowship training.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited medical doctorate program (MD, DO, or international equivalent).

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Research Certification (CCRA, CCRC, CCRP, ACRP-CP) preferred.
  • Experience in clinical research, clinical data analysis, or scientific/academic writing preferred.
  • Oncology or disease‑specific experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts disease‑specific screening of clinic schedules, EMR data, and diagnostic records to identify patients potentially eligible for clinical trials.
  • Performs preliminary eligibility assessments under guidance of investigators and research staff.
  • Collaborates with physicians, APPs, clinical trial office pre-screening team, and study coordinators to support timely trial matching and referral workflows.
  • Supports design and development of investigator‑initiated trials (IITs), including literature synthesis and rationale.
  • Assists with scientific writing for abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations.
  • Assists investigators with data preparation and exploratory analytics in collaboration with biostatistics.
  • Tracks screening metrics, enrollment outcomes, and operational indicators.
  • Maintains accurate documentation compliant with GCP, ICH, and Orlando Health SOPs.
  • Participates in meetings, tumor boards, and research planning sessions.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, along with a collaborative mindset and commitment to scholarly excellence
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Assists with development of internal work instructions for centralized trial matching.
  • Participates in department and cross-functional meetings
