About The Position

A postdoctoral position is available in the research group of Dr. Emily Stein at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City, USA. Start date 9/1/26. Our group focuses on studies of bone quality in different patient populations, with a particular interest in using novel imaging methods to evaluate bone microarchitecture and biomechanical properties. Ongoing studies involve high-resolution peripheral QCT and MRI methods for evaluation of bone health. The position will involve innovating and refining methodology with these techniques, including developing machine learning algorithms to support automation. The post-doc will collaborate with members of our multi-disciplinary team including engineers, orthopedists, radiologists and bone biologists. They will also oversee the research coordinators and students on the team and help to support and train them for their roles in image processing. They will be involved in all aspects of study design, conduct, data analysis and presentation. They will be expected to author manuscripts and present abstracts at national and international research meetings.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidate must have a recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D in biomedical engineering or a related field and have a record of peer reviewed publications.
  • Expertise in engineering, imaging and bone biology techniques is preferred.
  • High levels of motivation and independence and the ability to think critically are expected.
  • Ideal candidates must have good written/oral communication skills.
  • PhD candidates with expected graduation prior to 9/1/26 are also encouraged to apply.
