Job Description: We are currently seeking highly qualified, self-motivated post-doctoral candidates to accelerate research towards new applications, core methodologies and technologies in Artificial Intelligence at Hewlett Packard Labs. The Core Machine Learning Research team within the Artificial Intelligence Research Lab is hiring exceptional postdoctoral researchers to join our mission of advancing the frontiers of AI. We are developing cutting-edge techniques in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Reinforcement Learning, and optimization, with transformative applications in digital twins, agentic AI, nuclear fusion, sustainability, and trustworthy AI systems. Hewlett Packard Labs is the central research organization of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), focused on long- term, high-impact innovation. Our lab operates at the intersection of foundational research and real-world deployment, providing researchers with a unique opportunity to translate innovative ideas into technologies that matter. Role and Responsibilities As part of the Artificial Intelligence Research Lab’s core ML research team, you’ll work on: LLM and agentic architectures with refinements to enhance trust for complex applications and workflows. Multi-agent and multi-objective reinforcement learning for complex physical systems Generative models and Optimization for scientific domains such as inertial confinement fusion Scalable, safe AI systems that push the boundary of what’s possible in applied ML This is a rare opportunity to innovate in an environment that combines the exploratory spirit of academia with the scale and impact of industry . Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields focusing on Machine Learning.
  • Extensive experience in deep learning research is required, preferably with Reinforcement Learning and Large Language Models.
  • Experience in developing applications with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch with a high software proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Research experience in Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or Reinforcement Learning
  • Strong foundation in deep learning, with high proficiency in data structures and algorithms
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch and other leading machine learning frameworks (PyTorch required)
  • Proficient in Python, with strong software development skills
  • Publication record in top-tier ML/AI conferences or journals
