Founded in 1818, Saint Louis University is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious Catholic universities. The primary duty is to conduct research projects in synthetic carbohydrate chemistry. A secondary duty is to co-supervise graduate students pursuing degrees in synthetic organic chemistry. The responsibilities include carrying out organic reactions aimed at achieving project goals on a regular and consistent basis, keeping the PI informed of project activities and progress, maintaining a complete and accessible laboratory notebook, participating in discussions relevant to the project, sharing laboratory resources responsibly with others working in the lab, assisting with the preparation of publications and presentations arising from the project, maintaining a clean and safe laboratory working environment. It is expected that the research associate will apply their background in organic chemistry and solid supported synthesis to new problems and developments in carbohydrate chemistry as the project demands.
