About The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine (laboratory of Professor Soumen Paul) participates in research investigating stem cell biology and mammalian development, particularly trophoblast cell lineage and placental development, to advance scientific understanding and translational applications. This role provides advanced research training to support development of an independent research career. The fellow conducts research under the guidance of a Principal Investigator (PI), engages in professional development activities, and contributes to independent and collaborative research, data analysis, dissemination of findings, and laboratory activities.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in subject areas related to cell and molecular biology and developmental biology.
  • Research experience in wet biological laboratories with experience in cell culture, high-resolution imaging and molecular biology techniques.
  • Extensive Experiences in working with mitochondrial biology, transcriptional regulation and epigenetics.
  • Experience with large-scale genomics data data analyses such as RNA-seq, single cell RNA-seq and documentation of those data related to wet lab research projects .
  • Experience in successfully executing research projects leading contributing to peer reviewed publications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research under PI mentorship.
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments or studies.
  • Collect, manage, and interpret datasets.
  • Contribute to protocols, manuals, and regulatory documents.
  • Collaborate with the PI, faculty, and research teams on project direction and results interpretation.
  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations for peer-reviewed journals and scientific meetings.
  • Assist in preparing research proposals or other funding submissions.
  • Participate in seminars, workshops, and professional development activities.
  • Develop and follow an Individual Development Plan (IDP).
  • Mentor graduate or undergraduate students, interns, or trainees.
  • Present research findings at meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date research records.
  • Adhere to IRB, IACUC, data security, and other compliance policies.
  • Attend required departmental and University orientation and training sessions.
