About The Position

The Post Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology will work in a research laboratory focusing on kidney and vascular disease–related outcomes research. Research activities will center on the study of hypertension, kidney disease, diabetes, and other cardio-renal risk factors and their impact on cognitive function, brain health, and quality of life in older adults. This position will encompass clinical, epidemiological, and translational research.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent experience in public health, psychology, dementia, geriatrics, hypertension, kidney disease, or other health-related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct research studies and interpret data under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator (PI).
• Work independently and collaboratively on research projects.
• Participate in the design and execution of observational studies, clinical trials, and implementation research related to vascular and kidney disease.
• Conduct data collection, management, and analysis using clinical and population-based datasets.
• Contribute to the development of study protocols, manuals of procedures, and regulatory documentation.
• Assist with preparation of grant proposals and scientific manuscripts.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date research documentation in accordance with study and institutional requirements.
• The Post Doctoral Fellow will be expected to complete research projects under the guidance of the faculty mentor; analyze and interpret study results; prepare publication-quality manuscripts, including tables and figures; and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
• Review and synthesize relevant scientific literature to inform study design and interpretation.
• Develop research questions and contribute to study design and analytic strategies.
• Engage regularly with the PI, faculty mentors, and research team to discuss study progress, design considerations, and interpretation of results.
• Present research aims and findings at departmental seminars and at local and national scientific meetings.
• Prepare abstracts, posters, and manuscripts as first author when appropriate.
• Attend and maintain compliance with all required University and Department orientation and training sessions; adhere to IRB, data security, and research compliance requirements; and participate in departmental seminars and regular research meetings.
