About The Position

The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community. A postdoctoral associate position is available at the Department of Civil & Architectural Engineering, University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL). The selected candidate will work on computational frameworks for digital twins in various applications and large language models for structural analysis. Initial appointment will be one year. Employment extension depends on performance and availability of funds (the overall appointment length can be 2 years). Review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree Medicine (MD) required
  • No previous experience required

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

  • PhD in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant field.
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with others and contribute to a team environment
  • Communication: Strong and clear verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues.
  • Writing: Ability to produce high-quality manuscripts and figures
  • Independence: Ability to independently develop research ideas

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in structural reliability analysis, probabilistic modeling, large language models, or computer vision is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
  • Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
  • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
  • Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Conduct research on digital twins for various applications and large language models for structural analysis
  • Prepare research reports and technical papers for publishing
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and manage the computation facilities in our labs
  • Translate research into software platforms
  • Assist in grants writing and make presentations at scientific conferences
