About The Position

The Department of Neurology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking applications for a postdoctoral scholar to support multiple projects investigating vascular contributions to age-related changes in cognitive and physical function, subclinical cerebrovascular disease, and dementia conducted in large NIH -funded cardiovascular disease cohorts, including, the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study, the Jackson Heart Study, and the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis, among others. In addition to the mentored research projects, the postdoctoral scholar will be expected to present their research at national scientific conferences, prepare and publish manuscripts, pursue additional training/professional development through internal and external courses or workshops, and develop their grant/proposal writing skills. Funding is available for travel, presentations, and research expenses. The anticipated start date for the position is Fall 2025. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be advised by and work closely with Dr. Priya Palta. Requirements

  • Past experience conducting quantitative population health research within areas such as epidemiology or biostatistics
  • Demonstrated past experience in statistical programming ( SAS , STATA , or R)
  • Excellent writing abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Research and/or training experience in cardiovascular epidemiology and/or neuroepidemiology
  • Interests and skills in neuropsychological assessment
  • Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • A record of presentations at national conferences
