About The Position

The postdoc that fills this role will be examining the mechanism of axon pruning in models of neurons as well es examining apoptosis regulation in induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. This work involves isolating sympathetic neurons from neonatal mice, culturing them in microfluidic chambers, and probing the molecular pathways of axon degeneration using molecular and cell biological approaches. For the project on stem cells, this would require working with iPS cells and examining apoptosis regulation in the undifferentiated and neuronally differentiated cells.

Requirements

  • Experience of working in a lab research environment with tissue culture and mice models with molecular and cell biological techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the isolation of primary neurons from mice
  • the use of microfluidic chambers
  • assays of apoptosis and axon degeneration
  • Experience of working with iPS cells- undifferentiated and neuronally differentiated.
