This full-time position will contribute to projects on natural hazards and disasters.The primary projects will focus on extreme weather events and their impacts to communities in the Southeastern US. Topics of related projects include compound and cascading hazards, impact-based forecasting, disaster risk management, and community-engaged projects to build local resilience. The candidate will work closely with Dr. Antonia Sebastian and Dr. Miyuki Hino. This position will be responsible for a wide range of research tasks, including literature review, designing analysis to meet research objectives, and data analysis and visualization, including spatial and statistical analyses. The datasets are large and complex, so experience with R or Python is required. They will also evaluate research results for validity and reliability and oversee project progress. Finally, they will help develop research papers, presentations, and other communications products.
