The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow in Biochemistry and Structural Biology to join the laboratory of Dr. Xiaowei Hou in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences. This position is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic and highly self-motivated, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team. The primary focus of research in Dr. Hou's lab is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that regulate Ca2+ signaling in both physiological and pathological contexts. The lab is well-equipped with advanced technology, including access to a 200 kV Thermo Scientific Glacios Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and high-end 300kV Krios TEMs located at various NIH and DOE-funded cryo-EM centers across the United States. The research program is supported by the Center for Advanced Structural Biology (CASB) and the Center for Advanced Research Computing (ARC) at the UC College of Medicine, providing a robust environment for cutting-edge research. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will conduct research experiments within a defined scope and methodology, gather and analyze data, and develop innovative ideas and methodologies to advance current research. You will be responsible for preparing data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research findings. Participation in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and assistance in grant writing will also be part of your duties. Keeping abreast of developments in the field is essential for maintaining and enhancing your professional expertise. Additionally, you will be involved in lab maintenance, including equipment upkeep and supply ordering, and may have the opportunity to teach techniques to others, as well as train and mentor junior research staff. Engaging in professional development opportunities and seeking career and research advice from faculty supervisors and other faculty members is encouraged. This position may involve performing related duties based on departmental needs, and the job description is subject to change at any time.
