About The Position

The Post Closing Specialist at Valley National Bank is responsible for performing post-closing reviews of loan documents to ensure accuracy and completeness. This role involves coordinating with lenders and legal counsel to obtain necessary documentation and approvals, as well as maintaining compliance with established service standards. The specialist will also monitor exceptions and ensure timely communication across various business lines.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending and commercial real estate documentation.
  • Ability to review loan documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of nCino loan imaging system.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including general understanding of databases and Microsoft Word/Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years banking experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with commercial loan documentation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform post-closing review of required loan closing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review loan approval and commitment letters if applicable.
  • Ensure all closing documents and regulatory documents are provided to evidence the loan and perfect the bank's security interest.
  • Perform post-closing follow up with lenders and legal counsel for missing or corrected documents.
  • Respond to questions concerning loan documentation from lenders, legal counsel, or other bank colleagues.
  • Follow up to ensure all loan closing packages are received timely from various lending teams.
  • Provide direct communication and timely reporting to all business lines, escalating items to Team Leader/Management when needed.
  • Ensure all loan closing files are saved and imaged to the proper folder after final quality control review.
  • Perform Exception monitoring process, tracking exceptions and resolving documentation issues.
  • Use knowledge and discretion to follow up and find resolution for all open items and compliance issues.
  • Ensure adherence to established service standards, maintaining confidentiality of work-related information.
  • Effectively use interpersonal and communication skills, maintaining a cooperative and professional manner.
