About The Position

The Post Award Team Lead - Sponsored Agreements Management at Virginia Tech is responsible for overseeing non-financial post-award management and the final closeout of sponsored research awards. This role involves managing complex grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and sponsor regulations. The lead will also serve as a technical administrator for various sponsor systems and provide leadership in research administration, fostering teamwork and collaboration within the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP).

Requirements

  • Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with significant relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
  • Grants administration experience in a research or academic environment.
  • Demonstrated accounting and budgeting experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant research administration certification such as CRA or CFRA, or completion within 6 months.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and independent initiative.
  • Work experience with federal and non-federal grant and contract regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first-line manager for non-financial post-award management and final closeout of sponsored research awards.
  • Provide professional administrative management of personnel and complex grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with Virginia Tech policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations.
  • Manage portfolio of awarded sponsored programs, including contact with sponsors for prior approvals and facilitating rebudgeting.
  • Oversee complex cost-sharing requirements and program income management.
  • Monitor subrecipients and manage the closeout process.
  • Act as the technical administrator for sponsor systems used by the Post Award Team.
  • Assist in the development of administrative procedures to comply with regulations affecting agreements.
  • Provide leadership for research administration and foster teamwork and collaboration within the team.
  • Demonstrate high commitment to customer service in research administration.
