About The Position

Office of Research: The Office of Research, and its staff, are responsible for central research administration, oversight of research policy and compliance, and internal research development programs. The Office is part of The Chancellors Office and includes the Office of Sponsored Programs, the Office of Undergraduate Research, as well as several research centers. Job Summary: Manages post-award research administration activities or personnel related to financial transactions, audit, sponsored project payments, and/or compliance. Develops and oversees implementation of operations and strategic planning to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements within a unit

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field or commensurate combination of directly related experience and relevant coursework
  • At least 3 years of experience with federal grants and contracts, including budget preparation experience Following 2 CFR 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards, also known as the Uniform Guidance
  • Evidence of direct experience working with federal and non-federal payment systems, such as PMS (Payment Management System), ASAP (Automated Standard Application for Payments), and other sponsor-specific payment platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience with invoicing, collections, and payment management for sponsored projects, including monitoring accounts receivable and reconciling sponsor payments.
  • Evidence of experience with operational process improvement and procedure documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree, including a master’s degree
  • Evidence of experience developing and facilitating training on research administration topics
  • Evidence of experience successfully supervising or managing a team (minimum of 2 staff)
  • Evidence of familiarity with new account setups in both RAMP and Workday

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates post-award research administration operational policies and procedures, including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance
  • Reviews and/or approves financial transactions and reporting, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures for sponsored grants and contracts
  • May supervise activities of research administration staff
  • Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit, as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders
  • May be responsible for new account setup
