AECOM is actively seeking a Positive Train Control Systems Engineer for immediate employment in LA, CA, or Ontario, CA. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Provide full-time on-site support in Pomona, CA, overseeing the maintenance, testing, enhancement, and rehabilitation of a railroad client’s train control network systems and ensure it is maintained in a state of good repair. Demonstrate familiarity with PTC systems including but not limited to Back Office Server, Mobile Device Manager, ITCM, wayside systems and onboard systems. Ensure the incorporation and application of railroad operating practices and policies into the Train Control Environment including CAD, PTC, and other systems provided for the safe and efficient operation of the railroad. Understand train control, signal and communication configuration management practices, and regulatory record keeping. Maintain accurate records, prepare correspondence and periodic reports. Ensure compliance with all PTC Backoffice systems and related configuration management procedures. Oversee and coordinate contracted activities including maintenance and modification of Train Control systems; ensure compliance with contract guidelines. Review and analyze user requirements, procedures, and training needs to achieve optimal efficiency in workflow. Assess operating practices and governing operations and assure Train Control, PTC, Signal Communications and Network Control Systems reflect industry’s best practices. Participate in quality control efforts and in developing processes to move newly released software functionality from test and quality control into the production environment. Create testing documentation and procedures for validation of system components and demonstrate such procedures to FRA representatives. Flexible work environment including occasional night and weekend duty assignments. Respond to periodic emergency situations and provide on-call assistance and service when necessary. Participate in rotating weekend "on-call" duty, in coordination with other members of the department. Participate in a hierarchy of change control meetings and work closely with multiple disciplines, host and tenant railroads, designers, vendors, consultants, and contractors. Comply with all applicable requirements of 49 CFR Parts 245 and 246, including any certification, training, and conduct standards relevant to this scope.
