Position Overview: The Positive Support Professional develops and implements individualized behavior support plans, monitors client progress, and coaches staff and caregivers in positive support practices. This role ensures services are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with client goals and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet at least one of the following licensure/credentialing requirements: Master’s or PhD in behavioral science or related field with demonstrated expertise in positive supports Licensed Registered Nurse with either: National certification as a clinical specialist or nurse practitioner in psychiatric/mental health nursing Master’s in nursing/behavioral science and 4,000+ hours of supervised clinical experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in a social services–related field OR 2 years of experience in providing PSS/behavioral health services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of functional assessments, data collection, and positive behavior supports
  • Understanding of mental health, neurocognitive, and developmental disorders
  • Ability to train and support direct care teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and personal vehicle with insurance

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individualized functional behavior assessments to guide support strategies.
  • Collaborate with individuals and their teams to develop person-centered, positive-practice behavior support plans and/or positive support transition plans.
  • Ensure timely distribution of behavior support plans to individuals and their care teams.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and supports.
  • Modify plans as needed based on ongoing data and individual progress.
  • Deliver onsite training and instructional support to staff and caregivers on implementing positive supports.
