About The Position

The Position Keeper is a front office role within the Commercial liquids trading organization at Phillips 66, responsible for monitoring and tracking physical commodity trading obligations and associated paper positions. This role ensures accurate reporting of volumetric price exposure during trading to manage price risk effectively. The Position Keeper collaborates closely with Traders, Schedulers, and Position Control Analysts in a dynamic environment, focusing on mitigating flat price exposure and maintaining accurate position reporting.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Marketing, or Engineering
  • 1 or more years of experience in Commercial Business
  • 1 or more years of experience with financial products/contracts used in commodity trading and risk management (swaps, options, futures and forwards)
  • Knowledge of energy trading activities and related reporting/risk management

  • Strong system aptitude with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Solid understanding of risk management methodologies and financial analysis
  • Knowledge of trade capture systems used by the organization (RightAngle, Zainet)

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the reporting of aggregate physical and paper exposures to support the management of the desired price risk profile of the trading organization.
  • Mitigate flat price exposure on physical trades by managing corresponding futures positions.
  • Monitor the activity of multiple traders and schedulers, tracking physical and paper activity to support trading decisions.
  • Maintain and generate daily reports reflecting trading activity for the Trading Manager and individual traders.
  • Provide information to the Position Control group for daily position reports, VaR, and price risk P&L for Commercial Liquids Trading.
  • Create and manage daily transactional inputs for external trades and in-house deals to balance strategies.
  • Coordinate with traders, schedulers, and PCAs for timely and accurate trade entry and system updates.
  • Assist Finance with questions required for accurate business accounting and analysis.
