About The Position

The POS Technician role at TEKsystems involves supporting a national point-of-sale refresh by replacing and upgrading hard drives, operating systems, and peripherals in a POS environment. This contracting position requires ensuring minimal disruption to business operations while performing technical tasks such as imaging hard drives, connecting new equipment to the network, and troubleshooting various issues related to hardware, software, and networking.

Requirements

• 5-7+ years of experience with Windows 10 and 11 Operating Systems
• Experience in hardware support and hard drive installation
• Skilled in installing and configuring operating systems, particularly Windows 10
• Ability to maintain detailed documentation records of all upgrades and replacements performed.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience with point of sale systems
• Experience with peripherals like pin pads and scanners

Responsibilities

• Efficiently remove and replace SSD drives in POS systems.
• Install, configure, and update Windows 10 on POS terminals.
• Backup data from old hard drives before replacement.
• Restore data to the new hard drives, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Test the POS systems after hard drive replacement and OS installation to ensure they function correctly.
• Diagnose and resolve any issues that arise during or after the hard drive replacement and OS upgrade including peripherals.
• Document the procedures followed during the hard drive replacement and OS upgrade including peripherals.
• Install Verifone PinPads at various POS terminals, ensuring proper connection.
