About The Position

As a Portfolio Underwriter, you are responsible for evaluating and assessing the acceptability of all loan documentation submitted by the Loan Processor, and effectively clearing conditions required for full loan approval and loan closing. Underwriters work daily with the Processing and Closing Departments to ensure that all loans and supporting documentation meet guidelines.

Requirements

3+ years overall residential mortgage experience, preferably in Underwriting
Ability to examine loan documentation for accuracy, acceptability, and completeness
Familiarity with fraud detection techniques
Encompass experience is required
Must be able to work in fast-paced, team environment that involves strict deadlines
Must be willing to work Arizona time shifts (8am to 5 pm, or 7am to 4pm)
Willingness to travel to our corporate office in Chandler, Arizona 2x per year

Nice To Haves

FHA and VA experience is a plus
Manufactured Housing and/or Construction Lending experience is a plus
Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

Analyzing credit, income, assets, purchase contracts, appraisals, title report, and other conditions submitted by the Processor and accept or deny documentation according to requirements.
Receiving, reviewing, and clearing loan conditions within Departmental set timeframes and in accordance with Company guidelines.
Teamwork - Work with Doc/Funders and Processing to ensure workflow remains efficient while maintaining loan quality.
