About The Position

The Portfolio Management Team Lead is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of Portfolio Managers (PMs) and Credit Analysts (CAs) within a designated Line of Business (LOB) or Market. This position serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for credit underwriting and portfolio management processes and ensures alignment with First Horizon's credit policy, risk appetite, and performance standards. The role balances leadership, portfolio oversight, and talent development to drive asset quality, operational efficiency, and associate performance

Requirements

• Bachelor (4-year college) degree
• 7-10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Microsoft Office suite

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Market/LOB SME on underwriting and portfolio management practices, including adherence to policies and procedures.
• Oversee portfolio management and asset quality reporting for the team; communicate insights and risks to Market/LOB leadership.
• Lead and manage a team of Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts, setting performance goals and conducting regular 1-on-1s and quarterly check-ins.
• Facilitate the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new PM and CA associates, in partnership with Market Leaders, Corporate Talent Development, and Regional Portfolio Management Officers.
• Review credit analysis and credit files from team members, offering coaching and objective feedback.
• Conduct or facilitate ongoing training sessions and credit discussions to enhance team expertise.
• Review and submit credit requests completed by direct reports, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and policy.
• Support overflow underwriting and portfolio management needs of the Senior Credit team.
• Maintain a reduced, but actively managed, portfolio of commercial clients.
• Lead Market-level Asset Quality Meetings and contribute to market-wide risk reporting.
• Performs all other duties as assigned
