As the Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for managing the portfolio of IT initiatives—including programs, products, services, and platforms—ensuring alignment with business strategy and optimal resource utilization. You will lead prioritization efforts, facilitate governance forums, and monitor portfolio performance through financial and delivery metrics. This role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and deep expertise in portfolio management principles to guide successful execution and value realization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in portfolio, demand or enterprise initiative management
  • Required experience in Portfolio Management / Demand Management, with clear ownership of portfolio processes (prioritization, intake, governance, execution tracking).
  • Strong understanding of portfolio governance, prioritization frameworks, and value-based decision making.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous, transformational environments, demonstrating patience, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • High level of stakeholder management and influence, including confidence to challenge, escalate, and hold difficult conversations with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, acting as an extension of the leader.
  • Strong communication skills (clear, direct, structured).
  • Willingness to work on-site in Roswell, given the need for close partnership with the leader.
  • Experience using portfolio/project tools (e.g., MS Project, SharePoint, Teams, Azure DevOps).

Nice To Haves

  • Portfolio / Project Management certifications (PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2).
  • Experience managing large budgets and enterprise-scale portfolios.
  • Background in IT or technology-enabled transformations.
  • Experience working in global, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong change management mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Development and Maintenance: Ensure alignment of all prioritized work with organizational goals and strategies. Ensure that the portfolio is comprehensive and includes all necessary components for successful execution.
  • Governance Facilitation: Facilitate portfolio governance processes, including steering committee meetings and decision-making forums. Ensure that governance processes are followed and that decisions are made in a timely and effective manner.
  • Prioritization and Selection: Work with product teams and leaders to choose projects that match organizational goals, balancing resources with demand and focusing on strategic value.
  • Collaboration and Execution: Collaborate with program/project managers, scrum masters, product owners and business stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and delivery of all initiatives. Provide guidance and support to project teams to ensure they stay on track and meet their objectives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate portfolio risks, ensuring proactive management of issues and dependencies. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential disruptions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on portfolio performance, including financials, metrics, risks, and issues by providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership. Track progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective actions as needed to ensure successful delivery.
  • Resource Optimization: Facilitate the optimization of resource allocation across the portfolio to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. Ensuring that resources are used effectively and that any resource constraints are addressed promptly.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear communication and alignment with business objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure their support and engagement.
