About the position

In this role, you will contribute to all aspects of the supply chain strategic sourcing process, including market opportunity identification, strategy and portfolio development, contract negotiations, and implementation. Working directly with a Senior Portfolio Executive, you will gain hands-on experience with the competitive bid process while sharpening your negotiation skills. You will manage a portfolio of acute and non-acute agreements within Vizient’s industry-leading sourcing portfolio, developing strategies that reduce spend, improve operational efficiency, and maximize client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned portfolio for acute and non-acute agreements.
  • Conduct product and market assessments, including research for assigned categories.
  • Develop contracting strategies that deliver differentiated value for individual clients, supply networks, academic medical centers, and non-acute market clients.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions for renewals, amendments, addenda, and tier pricing.
  • Manage portfolio budgeting and forecasting.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and serve as a category expert for clients, suppliers/distributors, Vizient field teams, advisory solutions, legal, and finance for assigned portfolios.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, Analysts, and Portfolio Administrators to align sourcing strategies with client needs and ensure market competitiveness.
  • Communicate key contract changes and enhancements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop product-specific marketing strategies to drive contract adoption and utilization.
  • Incorporate client feedback from councils and task forces into contracting initiatives for low- to moderately complex portfolios.
  • Participate in the competitive bid process and negotiate favorable contract terms.
  • Implement new programmatic offerings while maintaining awareness of healthcare market dynamics and emerging technologies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and alliances through effective communication and issue resolution.
  • Present and align contract strategies, opportunities, and challenges with Vizient leadership, member councils, and other key internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree in pharmacy, healthcare or business-related field preferred. Advanced degree desired.
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience in pharmacy, pharmacy sales, and/or contract development and negotiation required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite required (i.e., Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Experience in a health care or hospital environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in competitive bidding and managing high-profile agreements.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing expense and revenue budgets.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
