About The Position

Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, a Porter is responsible for cleaning the building, helping with grounds, and maintaining the facility.

Requirements

• Demonstrate a superior working knowledge of assigned area, and or have a general working knowledge of the facility.
• Must be able to create and maintain positive relationships with other staff, parents, participants, and volunteers within assigned activity.
• Ability to remain standing and moving for extended periods of time
• Indoors and outdoors in normal environment with some exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes
• Mobility within the building including movement from floor to floor and outside the building
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs. on a repetitive basis
• May handle human body fluids and chemicals as part of the daily operational duties.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the facility is attractive and clean, by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintaining upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
• Operate motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Record and report all needed repairs; repair as directed.
• Ensure the building and property is secure, and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor, when necessary.
• Replace soap, paper towels and other supplies.
• Plan and execute routine set-ups, breakdowns and installations for facility’s programming needs.
• Strip and wax floor and shampoo rugs as needed.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
