About The Position

As a Porter in one of HELP USA’s shelters for people experiencing homelessness, you’ll help provide our residents a clean and well-maintained living space that feels as much like home as possible during their stay with us. Your daily responsibilities will include cleaning (sleeping areas, bathrooms, offices, windows, floors, grounds, etc.), garbage and trash removal, painting, landscaping, snow removal, minor repairs, and other maintenance-related assignments. We’re one of the nation’s largest non-profit homeless services providers and low-income housing developers serving at-risk populations, including families, individuals, veterans, survivors of domestic violence, people with physical and mental health challenges and disabilities, and seniors. With an annual operating budget approaching $150 million and 1400 employees working in nearly 60 programs, we have helped over 500,000 people facing homelessness and poverty to build better lives. Requirements

  • Can lift 75 pounds.
  • Can operate small machinery, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent OR equivalent experience and skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in maintenance.
  • Some basic knowledge of wiring, boilers, and plumbing.
